See the benefit of being connected to your environment, relaxed, and taking photographs of your evening.

The evening will start with a relaxing, breath session led by Rachael Dixon from Devi Yoga & Healing.

This is followed by a photowalk around the beautiful surroundings of Greenan Beach and Castle  

All welcome, members and non-members.

Meet in the car park at Greenan Road at approx 7:15pm. 

Due to start Saturday 12/08 until the end of September. A selection of members work from the 2022-23 season. 24 mounted and framed prints - all for sale at reasonable prices.

Tickets for the house and gardens are £16.50 or £14.00 if you are lucky enough to be over 60

The Isle of Bute ferry sails from Wemyss Bay to Rothesay, they leave at 5 past the hour from 9:05am onwards. The return ferries leave on the hour and the last one is scheduled for 7pm.

The Dundonald 10k Race is on the 2nd of August 2023

The race starts at 7:30pm

The start of the 10K is at Drybridge Road, Dundonald and the finish is at Dundonald Castle.

Photowalk - Paisley 

Our photo walk to Paisley will explore the architecture of the city, along with an opportunity for some street Photography along the way. 

we will meet at the Bridge Street Car Park between 7:15 and 7:30 then make our way along to Abbey Mill and then on to Paisley Abbey, the Observatory and Town Hall along the wall, taking in some of the murals along the way.

Review of images from Mays photowalks

Photowalk to Whitelees Wind Farm at the Eaglesham Moors

We will meet in the car park at the visitor centre between 7:15 and 7:30pm

Your 3 photo topics for the evening are:

1) Movement

2) Textures (rough/Smooth)

3) Multiple Exposure (in camera or in post processing)

Please take at least one image on each of the above topics, then upload your 3 favourites to the competition page on the website by the following Monday evening.

These will be reviewed at the next review night.

Auld Wrecks and Pigsties Photo Walk Saturday May 13th 2023

We discover the delights (and mud) of the riverside walkway between Erskine and the Erskine Bridge, encompassing auld vessels (think Bowling Basin with a lot less wood, visible but shed loads more history. And mud.) Victorian pigsties (but no Victorian pigsand no mud), a woodland walk with squirrels and the occasional deer (slight mud potential).

See if you can spot the wait time markers for the old Erskine Ferry. Coffee stop at Caulders Garden Centre (good cakes, also no mud)....

Meet at the Lynn Bridge Car Park, Dalry (KA24 4JT), just off the B714 (Saltcoats Road) on the left hand side, between 7:15pm and 7:30pm

The ground can be uneven and muddy, so ideally walking boots or others suitable footwear should be worn.

Enjoy winding through the woodlands of Lynn Glen and along the Caaf Water with great views of the waterfall Lynn Spout. There are scenic paths, information panels and fairy trail as you make your way round. Take care on the rougher and steeper sections.

Photography Challenge

We have been requested by the Alloway Railway Tunnel Project (ART) to provide them with some images of the surrounding area of Alloway near the tunnel.

They are about to start running a crowdfunding programme with Creative Scotland (National Lottery) and would like some images for the social media campaign of the area where the tunnel is located and other areas of interest around it, such as Brig O'Doon, Alloway Auld Kirk, the river, The Burns museum, Memorial Garden etc

Any images used will be credited

PRINT MOUNTING SESSION

Clive and Tracy will be in the Clubroom mounting prints for anyone who brings theirs along.  White mounts and backing board is available to purchase at a cost of £2.50 per print.

The studio will be open for anyone who wishes to use it, however, please be aware that there will be a couple of wee renovations going on at the same time.

Fashion editorial and wedding photographer Derek Dunlop will be presenting a follow up to the photography workshop he ran for the club in July (https://irvinecc.co.uk/bulletins/exclusive-fashion-editorial-training-day-derek-dunlop-sunday-3rd-july)

Not only will he give feedback on the work done in July, Derek will also give guidance on shooting with models and his approach to editorial photography.  ...

Following on from our very successful evening with other local clubs last year, we are again extending our invitation and are expecting folk from Ayr, Levern, Dalry, again this year - amongst others.

£4 group rate for members and guests from other clubs - pay inside at the desk. 

We expect a good turnout. If possible, please park up at the fence in the car park so as not to obstruct the view of the building and exhibits...

This year the club is running a panel competition where members will enter 5 photos on a theme or idea together with a statement of intent.

This evening I will talk through the competition and discuss why collections of photographs can often be powerful in helping us to express ourselves. 

I hope you'll come away inspired and ready to start your own photographic project.

With so much of our photography these days revolving around digital imagery viewed on screens, we thought we would go old school tonight and ask you to bring in up to 3 small photographs for everyone to look at (up to 5" x 7" max).  

• You can either print them yourself or have them done in a shop at very low cost.
• Each print will be numbered and everyone will view and chat about the photos before we annonymously vote for our favourites.
• After the votes have been counted, the photographers who took the most popular prints will...
