Sat 25 Aug 2018 - UPDATE - trip to the 2018 Strathaven Balloon Festival - Ascent & Evening Glow
The Festival runs from Friday 6pm to Sunday. Balloons could be flying at 6pm Friday and Saturday, and 6am Saturday and Sunday.
Its all very weather dependant - check forecasts (http://www.xcweather.co.uk/forecast/Strathaven). It needs to be less than 10mph
A Friday pm check on the weather forecast shows it suitable for Balloons to make an ascent at around 6pm Saturday and the Evening Glow should happen at 9pm (if we go up together 4pm would be a good time to leave Townend) - a challenge to photograph...

Bring tripods. Try a bit of twilight photography. Some good colourful shots to be had.

The Fourth Port Parade marks the Carters’ visit to the 4th Port of Irvine
The parade will leave Second Avenue at 11am and will visit the Fullerton and Harbourside area.
Probably a good few shots to be had if the weathers good...maybe even better if its terrible?..lol!. Well worth a look..
(Marymass is a medieval religious festival and horse fair. Nowadays it is a 12 day event in August incorporating traditions with the present day.)..more to follow as the week progresses.

Wed 16 May 2018 - Fairlie Glen Waterfalls - Photo Trip
Meet at Townend to car share to Fairlie. Turn right into Station Rd and park up at Fairlie Station at about 7:30 - walk north up the path towards the Glen. Take the track in front of the cottage into the Glen. Lots of falls, most of which are past the Castle.
Stout shoes necessary, tripods very useful. Wellies or waders may help access more waterfalls.
If time permits, the falls on the Fairlie Moor road could also be visited, and to finish off we may even catch a sunset at Portencross
