Photography has a unique ability to encourage us to pause. In a world that often feels fast-moving and uncertain, a single image can invite us to slow down, observe more carefully and consider what lies beneath the surface.
Created by members of Irvine Camera Club for the Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival 2026, Moments of Reflection responds to this year’s festival theme, Reflections. Some photographs explore reflections in the literal sense—in water, glass, mirrors and light—while others reflect on memory, identity, relationships, place and the emotions that shape our lives.
Rather than offering a single interpretation of the theme, this exhibition presents a collection of individual perspectives. Each photographer has approached the subject in their own way, creating images that celebrate beauty, raise questions, provoke thought or simply capture a moment of stillness.
Mental wellbeing is often nurtured by taking time to notice, to connect and to reflect. We invite you to spend a few moments with these photographs, allowing them to spark memories, emotions or conversations of your own.
Irvine Camera Club is proud to support the Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival and its commitment to using creativity to promote understanding, wellbeing and community. We hope you enjoy Moments of Reflection and leave with a renewed appreciation for the power of photography to help us see both the world—and ourselves—a little differently.
