Our spring and summer season of photo walks is now well under way at Irvine Camera Club and this week we are presenting further images from our recent trip up to Glasgow.
These images at first glance can be seen as a mixture of styles, interests and techniques across a wide range of different subjects and if you did not know it, they could all have been taken at different times. But as a collection of images and with some background knowledge they become something else.
They were all taken on our evening trip to Glasgow, starting in Govan and heading out along the Clyde and so tell the story of the evening, documenting everything we saw of interest. On the one hand, they tell a story of the area on that day, from the people we met, what they were doing, what they were wearing to the weather. It’s a documentary record that over time will become more important and interesting. Look back at these images in 10 years time and you’ll see what I mean.
They are also connected by theme and that is once again about people. Even the photo’s that do not include people are celebrating the achievements of people, whether it’s the Museum or the Cathedral. Capturing someone wearing the right coloured clothes to create interest is always a fun thing to try and do and not without its challenges. So, every image tells a story of the people within it, whether it’s in remembrance or photographing other people photographing the bridge form a different angle.
There is plenty to find interesting here and it’s one of things we try to encourage at the club and learn about.
Irvine Camera Club prides itself on being an inclusive club, open to anyone, any age, who is interested in photography, whatever you use to take photo’s. The social aspect is an important part of what we do and who we are as club, and making friends and spending time doing something we enjoy is always at the heart of everything we aim to do.
So, if you would like to know more about photography or if any of these images have inspired you pick up a camera then you’d be very welcome to come along on one of our summer social walks.
