The images presented here from Irvine Camera Club were entered as a part of our annual friendly ‘Play Your Cards Right’ competition in which members picked cards at random that were all linked to subjects and techniques. Being random, members are faced with having to come up with new images, often of subjects unfamiliar to them using a variety of techniques that again are designed to push them into new areas of photography to see what they can come up with.
It's always a very creative competition and one that generates a lot of discussion and sharing of skills within the club. If you are ever stuck for what to photograph or wish to break out from what you normally do, then it is a great way to set yourself new challenges.
A special mention to James Bailey, who’s image of a bike chain link was voted overall winner on the evening for its simplicity and composition, focusing on a very small part of the subject rather than trying to fit it all in and an example of what you can do in your kitchen when the weather outside isn’t so nice.
If you have an interest in photography, would like to see what we are up to and want to be part of an exciting, all-inclusive club then why not come along, you will be made to feel very welcome.
We meet on Tuesdays, starting at 7.30 at Irvine Community Sports Club, Waterside, Marress Roundabout, Irvine KA12 8DL
