Last week Irvine Camera Club welcomed Keith Walker to judge our first print competition of the season. Keith is a photographer and educator from Shambellie House near Dumfries. Shambellie is a fantastic creative centre for arts and Keith works there delivering training to staff and students.
It was clear from the outset that Keith had spent a long time with the large number of prints the club had delivered to him for his assessment. He brought a real sense of enthusiasm and passion for photography as he keenly considered each of our images. Keith was generous with his praise and commendations throughout the evening, but as always, he needed to hold back his favourites to the end of the night. After awarding multiple third and second place prints, Keith finally settled on Alan Kempster’s fine townscape photograph of Hebden Bridge as his chosen 1st place, which was praised for its light, composition and sense of nostalgia.
Keith also generously picked out 3 prints from the club’s beginner photographers for special commendation, with two landscapes by Alexis Clark and a lovely small print by Joanne Redford getting the top places respectively in the beginner category.
If you are interested in developing and improving your photography, you are very welcome to come along to any of our club meetings. We meet most Tuesday evenings at the Irvine Community Sports club. Full details on our website www.irvinecc.co.uk
