In the Herald - Wish fulfilment behind the lens

As we headed towards Christmas we injected a bit of fun into proceedings at Irvine Camera Club.  This week our long-standing member, Bob Wark, hosted a humourous evening based on the idea of getting our members to recreate an image that they wish they had taken themselves.

This could have been a popular album cover (of which we had a few) an iconic photograph or artwork, or simply a photo they had seen but really wished they had gotten for themselves.

Several of our members made use of our club studio to try to achieve the precise lighting and posing required.  Some even bought props and costumes to complete the look.

Others used photography to channel the spirit of the original image, often with surprisingly effective results.

Needless to say, the evening went very well with lots of laughs, amusement and a fair bit of embarrassment for the poor souls who had been coerced into modelling.  Well done to all those who took part.  This will definitely be a feature we will repeat next year.

I hope all our readers had a fantastic Christmas and that Father Christmas was good to you all.  If you were lucky enough to get a nice new camera or a lovely new smart phone you could do worse than to come along to Irvine Camera Club where you will meet lots of creative people and get plenty of inspiration to get out there and start to make some fabulous photographs.

Wishing you all a very happy and healthy New Year from everyone at Irvine Camera Club.  Enjoy the light and we’ll see you in 2023!
