As a subject water tends to be a big influence on our members.  Whether trying to avoid it as it falls from the skies or using it in our images, it can be seen throughout all of our work.

It helps to be living on the coast with dramatic skies, islands and views on our door step but water also provides us photographers with the opportunity for so much more than great landscapes.  It attracts people to it, whether to enjoy being around or in it or as a place of work.  The ferries, tourist boats and fisherman are always good subjects, especially for those who enjoy taking photos of people or who are street photographers.  Then there is the wildlife that live in and around it with plenty of bird and seal activity right on our shores.

In this region of the world we are very lucky to also have plenty of amazing water locations inland as well as along the coast.  With the loch’s and burns that cross the land, these inland waterways can offer a more controlled water environment than the wild and rugged sea does and attract different wildlife and people as well.

These images are just some of those taken over the summer with water in mind and show the variety of interests our members have towards the subject.

If you would like to come and see what we are up to this week, we meet on Tuesdays starting at 7.30 at Irvine Community Sports Club, Waterside, Marress Roundabout, Irvine KA12 8DL
