In the Herald - Social media keeps us all in the picture

During the summer months when many folk are finally managing to get away for a well-earned break, it isn’t always easy to get everyone gathered together for camera club meetings.  Irvine Camera Club has an active presence on social media and we find that our Facebook group is an ideal way of keeping our members engaged with photography even when they are not able to come along to all of our meetings or take part in our regular photo walks.

For a while now, we have been warmly inviting non-members and friends to join in with us on Facebook.  We find that getting new ideas and perspectives from people outside the club keeps our photographic thinking fresh and interesting.  It’s also a great way for prospective members to get a feel for what we do as a club before they perhaps decide to join up.

Over the last few months we have been running a fun weekly challenge where a theme is set and everyone in the group is encouraged to submit an image.  The person who sets the theme choses the winner and then that person chooses the next theme.  We have already had some great themes set by our members and friends, such as… Bridges, Animal Portraits, Flora & Fauna, People and Transport.  The standard of photography from everyone has been really impressive.  This week we are featuring a selection of these fun images.  I hope you enjoy them!

If you would like to join in then please look for the Irvine Camera Club Members & Friends group on Facebook.  Once you’re in you’ll be able show us your own unique interpretation of each theme and perhaps even get your photos featured in the paper!

If you would like to take a closer a look at what we do throughout the year and how being a member could inspire and motivate your photography, then you can find all of our details on our club website, www.irvinecc.co.uk
