What shall I photograph today?
One of the great things I get to see every week are the images that our club members create. The range of subjects is varied, along with varying techniques and styles make it a great experience. One thing I try to remind myself when looking for things to photograph is to look to see what is right in front of me.
I am fascinated to see what people choose to photograph, from landscapes, the wildlife, the people but also the mundane. The idea of taking a photograph of a bin, a door, a window, a leaf may at first seem a little odd.
But not all photography needs to be dramatic, often it is simply a record of today in this moment. For example, a shop window will change its display never to be repeated and will be a snapshot of what is current. A swing may bring back childhood memories but also demonstrate a change in design. In 5 years’ time these will be really interesting to revisit. Bike rails may create geometric or repeating patterns. Colour, light and texture all can play a part along with reflections in windows. There are subjects all around us, all of the time in all conditions, we just have to remember to look for them as this set of images from our club members goes to demonstrate.
