The images presented here were all taken by members of Irvine Camera Club and entered into our recent panel competition. This is a very special annual event that encourages members to plan 5 images that amount to more as a whole, than perhaps each individual image would on its own. It needs a theme and an intent and always delivers some extraordinary results.
Most of us take photos of things we see when we are out and about, but this is designed in such a way that you are required to think about what you are intending on capturing and then working towards that throughout the season in order to produce a body of work.
Jean Robson from Dumfries Camera Club cast her eye over the many panels presented and offered some incredible insights into how each panel worked and related back to the statement of intent set out at the start.
With 5 images per panel plus a panel layout and a statement there was plenty of material for her to work through and we are all incredibly grateful of her time in delivering a very educational and informative session.
Congratulations to Colin Houston who presented a set of images from The Grand Mosque, won the evening with a concise and focussed body of work. Also included here is David Bell’s set of images who’s abstract black and white compositions taken at the Queen Sofia, Palace Of The Arts show a contrasting approach to photographing buildings. More to come next week.
If you have an interest in photography, would like to see what we are up to and want to be part of an exciting, all-inclusive club then why not come along, you will be made to feel very welcome.
We meet on Tuesdays, starting at 7.30 at Irvine Community Sports Club, Waterside, Marress Roundabout, Irvine KA12 8DL
