This week Irvine Camera Club present an eclectic set of images, once again demonstrating the interests that our photographers have and their unique way of seeing the world.
Our season of ‘Summer Photo Walks’ continued last week with a local trip to Dundonald. Compared to other more well known locations, this might not seem like an obvious choice for somewhere to go, but there is much to see and explore if you take the time.
Starting at the Castle, it’s the obvious place to photograph, commanding the surrounding area and offering views right out to the horizon, it’s worth the climb up the steep path, just take a telephoto lens with you and see what you can spot.
If you head out the back of the castle there are many photographic opportunities depending on which path you choose to take. You can head down to Old Auchans House, the ruins of a country house that’s visible from the road or down ‘The Smugglers Trail’ path with views over Troon to the sea and beyond.
As a photographer, I personally find these smaller, quieter locations more rewarding. The unexpected view that you stumble upon, wildlife that runs across the path in front of you, the stillness of the woods and plants, can all be inspiring to someone with a keen eye and a willingness to explore off the beaten track a little.
As you can see from the images presented here from our walk, there’s a wide variety of things to photograph, even in a quiet village on a Tuesday evening!
Irvine Camera Club prides itself on being an inclusive club, open to anyone, any age, who is interested in photography, whatever you use to take photo’s. Being social and getting out is an important part of what we do and who we are as club, and making friends and spending time doing something we enjoy is always at the heart of everything we aim to do.
