Snappers focusing on life in lockdown.

As the weeks in lockdown pass by, Irvine Camera Club are continuing to meet virtually on Wednesday evenings.  In order to keep ourselves busy and entertained the club are setting weekly challenges for our members.  This week we asked everyone to try to get three photographs representing “Life in Lockdown”.  Some of the group are more restricted than others, particularly those that are self-isolating and are not able to get outside at all.  Others were able to take their cameras with them on their daily exercise outings, or on their visit the shops for essentials.

Once again, our members did not disappoint.  The club Zoom session was treated to a wide variety of images, ranging from photo-journalism recording these strange times we live in to studies of nature which are perhaps now taking on an increased significance in all of our lives as we learn to slow down, look around and appreciate more what we have.

A strong theme of support for the NHS emerged in the images, but also one of a broader sense of isolation.   More time to devote to hobbies and DIY and a general appreciation of the Ayrshire countryside.  There is no doubt in my mind that we are lucky to live in this part of the world, especially when the weather has been as good as it has been recently.

I do hope you enjoy a glimpse into the everyday lives of some of members in these extraordinary times.  I’m sure that many of these photographs will take on increased significance in the years to come as we look back on what will be seen as an extraordinary period in global history.

Irvine Camera Club currently meet online every Wednesday evening. If you are interested in joining us please contact us via our web site www.irvinecc.co.uk.,
