After a long winter, it’s always a great time of the year when we can get outside as a group and meet up regularly for our season of photo walks. The talks and competitions of the winter season are inspiring and great fun but by the time April comes around all we really want to do is get out on a weekly basis with friends and take photos, hopefully putting into practice some of the things we have seen or learnt over the previous few months.
This week, the images presented here were all taken down at Greenan Castle in Doonfoot, just south of Ayr. It’s a great location with plenty to observe and with the evenings still fairly short, we didn’t have long to wait for the incredible sunset we were treated to.
Obviously, the castle is the main attraction, but it is always important to look around to see what else there is. With the light fading our members took up positions all around the castle to capture it from all angles and some even managed to capture a few of the people who were around enjoying the evening as well the beach and Arran.
Irvine Camera Club prides itself on being an inclusive club, open to anyone, any age, who is interested in photography, whatever you use to take photo’s. Many members use their phones and some members are using older traditional methods, from film cameras to chemical developing techniques. The social aspect is an important part of what we do and who we are as club, and making friends and spending time doing something we enjoy is always at the heart of everything we aim to do.
So, if you would like to know more about photography or if any of these images have inspired you pick up a camera then you’d be very welcome to come along on one of our summer social walks.
