Our spring and summer season of photo walks is now well under way at Irvine Camera Club and for those of you interested in photography, it’s a great excuse to get outdoors and explore.
The selection of images presented here were taken across the various walks we have been on so far.
As is to be expected at this time of the year, the weather plays a huge part in photography, notably in how it affects the light available on an evening walk but also affecting what can be photographed. Sometimes you head out with something in mind and weather doesn’t allow for it or it gives you something you were not expecting.
As an example of this, we have many photographers at the club who enjoy taken portraits and people when we are out and about, many faces from around the county have been featured across these pages, but again the weather can play a part in this. More people are about when the weather is warm and sunny than when it is damp and wet. The clothes that people wear change as well depending on the temperature and the likelihood of getting wet. As photographers we must consider numerous variables when planning a walk or photoshoot and stay flexible to adapt to unexpected situations.
So, when you are looking at images it is worth taking notice of what is going on with the environment and the weather in the pictures to see what else it adds to them. A sunny day isn’t always the ideal situation if you are wishing to create a mood in your images, although a fantastic sunset is always something to photograph. Just pick up your camera and head out no matter what it is doing outside, there will always be something of interest to see.
Irvine Camera Club prides itself on being an inclusive club, open to anyone, any age, who is interested in photography, whatever you use to take photos.
So, if you would like to know more about photography or if any of these images have inspired you pick up a camera then you’d be very welcome to come along on one of our summer social walks.
