In the Herald - The focus was on our alphabet challenge

This week Irvine Camera Club held our Annual General Meeting.  Although there were some changes to the personnel on the committee, none of the posts were contested and our chair, Tracy Ross, steered us through proceedings efficiently in short order.

With the refreshed committee now in place, the club is all set to build on the successes of last season.  As well as regular photographic expeditions I will also be bringing you news of interesting developments in the club over the next few months, so please continue to watch this space over the summer.

You will remember that our club has been running a weekly alphabet challenge and fortuitously we have just reached the letter Z.  Over the last 9 weeks our members have been out shooting subjects related to the letters of the alphabet from R through to Z.  As an added incentive our out-going Vice Chair, Bob Wark, has been kindly providing a Terry’s Chocolate Orange to the creator of his favourite photo each week.  Nothing like a bit of competition and a prize to spice up interest!  Needless to say, the challenge has been well supported and this week I am bringing you a selection of our members’ creative interpretation of the final letters of the alphabet.  Some are very obvious but others may need a bit of lateral thinking!

Next week is our Prize Giving and social night so please tune in to the Herald for all the excitement and the glamour, not to mention the fine photography, as we celebrate the work of all of the members and our prize-winning photographers pick up their awards and trophies.

In the meantime, please enjoy this week’s selection of images.  If you have a keen interest in photography then you are more than welcome to join us on our photo-walks over the summer.  Details of the summer programme are on our web site www.irvinecc.co.uk Events are added regularly so please keep an eye open for something that may appeal to you.  Until next week, take care and enjoy the light!
