The Waverley, the world’s last seagoing paddle steamer is a frequent visitor around the coast of Ayrshire, often sailing out of Glasgow and appearing as far south as Cornwall and London.
During the summer months Irvine Camera Club are out and about visiting different parts of Glasgow, Ayrshire and beyond and it’s always a thrill to see the Waverley go past, often hearing her unusual sound coming long before you see her.
She is such a beautiful sight that people stop and watch, so for photographers looking for something special to include in their images she is something special and it always draws our attention.
So, with that in mind, a few of our members booked a trip to get a different perspective, to see what it’s like to be on board rather than watching from afar and of course they took their cameras. The images presented here are a selection from their trip as it headed along the Clyde.
We still have lots of walks to come this summer, If you wish to join us, you’re very welcome — no experience necessary, just bring your curiosity! Everyone is invited, whether you’re a beginner, an experienced photographer, a family member, a visitor to the area, or simply someone interested in what we do.
