The images presented here were all taken by members of Irvine Camera Club at the recent Cyclo-Cross Festival held at Irvine Beach Park between 31st December 2025 and 3rd January 2026. It was a great event with plenty of opportunity to photograph the riders taking part, both in the dark under the floodlights and during the day.
The festival attracted not just pro cycling teams but also families there to experience the technically challenging course. The course involved riders tackling the infamous sand dunes, grassy hills, flat runs and the sand as they tried to ride across the beach. Between the strength and stamina required to get around the course and the terrain, many resorted to carrying their bikes at times.
With the stunning scenery on offer, across the Arran and up and down the coast, and with the varying weather across the four days as well, our photographers were challenged with finding the best places to capture the best shots. It was also an excellent opportunity to practice some action and sport photography right on our doorstep and I’m already looking forward to the next time.
If you have an interest in photography, would like to see what we are up to and want to be part of an exciting, all-inclusive club then why not come along, you will be made to feel very welcome.
We meet on Tuesdays, starting at 7.30 at Irvine Community Sports Club, Waterside, Marress Roundabout, Irvine KA12 8DL
