In the Herald - Culzean

This year Culzean Castle and Country Park are hosting guided photo walks, led by a professional photographer and accompanied by a park ranger.  In preparation for this, Irvine Camera Club were invited to a preview of the public event.

The guided walk led to unexplored parts of the park that could hold a great deal of interest for photographers, from flowers, trees, wildlife, insects, landscapes, and architectural subjects available, there was something for everyone.

Having a ranger along allowed us access to the castle and park an hour earlier than the general public and we were also treated to a feeding session with the deer and llamas.  Throughout the walk we had all our questions answered regarding the history of the park along with information on the wildlife and the plants which proved to be very interesting and gave context to the images we were able to take.

I hope that you enjoy the sample of images presented here and if interested would encourage you join one of our photo walks and to explore off the beaten track a little, wherever you go, just to see what you might find.

We have photo walks arranged every week throughout the summer and you are very welcome to come and and join us.  Camera club members will be on hand to help less experienced photographers with everything from camera settings to composition.  Full details can be found on our website https://irvinecc.co.uk/programme
