One of the things that Irvine Camera Club is especially proud of and continues to work at is building relationships within the local community with different community groups, supporting them through our photographic work where we can,
Often this can mean documenting events that they are involved in such as when the Irvine Clean Up Crew head out to clean up an area, the local Rugby and Football clubs in their weekly matches and competitions or the Tidelines Book Festival as examples. Sometimes we help to create promotional imagery from these events along with photographing events in the local area throughout the year. Many of our summer walks aim to record the villages and towns in Ayrshire over time, returning to the same locations each year to see what has changed.
It always helps that within the club we have members with many different interests and passions and so can offer out our services because members are interested and want to get involved, improving their work and giving them an outlet and often experiences they would not be able to get if they did not belong to the club.
Currently we have several social projects we are working on, one of which is the ‘Reflections’ exhibition, part of the annual Ayrshire Mental Health Arts Festival that is held every October.
The images presented here are not the final images but a selection of images from our members on the theme of reflection, however they interpreted that and once again show the divers interests of those taking part.
If you would like to know more about photography or if any of these images have inspired you pick up a camera then we have a packed schedule of weekly events including talks, walks, practical nights, community exhibitions, competitions and so much more going on this year.
