As our winter season draws to a close, Irvine Camera Club is recognising and celebrating the work of its members over the past year.  Last week we held our yearly prize giving night.  One of the most keenly contested trophies is always the Eglinton Plate which is awarded to best beginning photographer in the club.

This year that accolade went to Colin Grant who only joined our club last September.  Colin was awarded the Eglinton Plate by our Chair, Tracy Ross.  The award is based on points scored throughout our competition calendar.  It requires a beginning photographer to consistently enter all our competitions and to reach a good standard of photography as assessed independent judges.

As you can see from this selection of Colin’s photos, he has varied interests from nature to portraiture as well as landscape and street.

Watch out for articles on some of our other prize winners over the next few weeks.  In the meantime, we are now beginning our Summer Photo-Walk season.  This is open to anyone who is interested.  We will be regularly meeting up at various locations on Tuesday evenings to take photos.  Camera club members will be available to help less experienced photographers with everything from camera settings to composition.  You are very welcome to join us on any of our walks.  Full details can be found on our website https://irvinecc.co.uk/programme
