In the Herald - Chairs

As you probably know, Irvine Camera Club run a weekly challenge for our members to go out and take a photo for a theme that we set every Monday morning.  A couple of weeks ago we chose the theme “Chair”.  As usual our keen photographers were soon out there snapping all manner of furniture that could be used for sitting on.  From benches to church pews, every type of chair was allowed.  Some chose to document the chairs as they found them, and others pushed the creativity a wee bit further.

On this occasion our club chair (had to be, didn’t it?), Tracy Ross, was selected as the best entry with her stunning fine art style photograph of her dog in the club’s well-equipped studio.  We are always looking for props and ideas for the studio and Tracy had used a recently acquired and rather splendid red armchair for this week’s challenge.  The addition of Betsy, her Australian Labradoodle, was a last-minute decision.  In the end that choice tipped the balance when Colin Duffy, our weekly judge, came to choosing a winner.

The ethos of our club is to keep our members motivated and out taking photographs.  The weekly challenge is just one small part of that.  As we move into spring and summer, we are laying on a busy schedule of local photo walks as well as trips further afield.  This year we have plans to visit locations as diverse as Ailsa Craig and Blackpool.  If you would like to get involved with our thriving club, you can find all the details of our summer photo-walks on our website www.irvinecc.co.uk

Until next week, enjoy the light!
