The images presented here were all taken by members of Irvine Camera Club and entered into our recent print competition.  The print competitions are an important part of our annual programme, allowing members an opportunity to explore the many different ways in which images can be presented in this medium.

Printed work always looks different to its digital version, often it can provide some clarity to the image but there is much that can be learned from this process.  Firstly, there is a cost which means you must carefully select which images you will be presenting and cannot change your mind as the deadline approaches.  You need to consider the size at which you are printing depending on the resolution of your image and finalise the cropping and editing.

When printing there are a number of different types of paper you can use and it can be overwhelming to start with until you find the ones that work best for your style of image.  If in doubt pick up the phone to your printer as they will be able to offer you advice ahead of printing or supply free test prints for you to be able to compare.

If you have never printed your work, I would encourage you to try it and display your work at home instead of having it hidden away on your phone or hard drive.

Congratulations to David Bell who’s image ‘Snow Covered Dunes’ was judged to be the outstanding image of the evening.

If you have an interest in photography, would like to see what we are up to and want to be part of an exciting, all-inclusive club then why not come along, you will be made to feel very welcome.

We meet on Tuesdays, starting at 7.30 at Irvine Community Sports Club, Waterside, Marress Roundabout, Irvine KA12 8DL
