This week we welcomed Robert Spence to our club to present his awards and judging comments in our first mono print competition of the year.  Robert has years of experience to draw upon and spent time with every image, making suggestions on how to improve it or practical advice on things to try.  He gave us advice on how to present images and the importance of naming an image that has relevance to the picture itself.  I certainly learnt a lot and as a club we were grateful for his time in judging the images and for his generosity when it came to talking about each one.

The images presented today are of the overall best image called ‘Gent at Glasgow Mela’ by Malcolm Yates which looked incredible printed and framed in a mount, making it appear 3 dimensional.  The other images are of joint second and third places and a couple from the judging itself.  Robert Spence will be back in a couple of weeks to judge and comment on our first colour print competition of the year, which I for one am looking forward to.

Our full programme of talks, events and competitions that take place throughout the autumn and winter has just started.  We meet on Tuesdays starting at 7.30 at Irvine Community Sports Club, Waterside, Marress Roundabout, Irvine KA12 8DL
