With this year’s season well and truly underway, we have just had our first image competition of the year. As expected, the standard was incredibly high and with the critical eye of Keith Walker looking over them, there was plenty to evaluate and discuss.
As you can see from the top placed images presented here, the subjects ranged from the tiniest of creatures to the biggest landscapes with everything in between.
The first competition of the year is always one of the most interesting as members have been away travelling or working on their photography over the summer break and so it is the first time we get to see what everyone has been working on. Often noticeable jumps in ability and technique are evident and new members who turn up for the first time bring with them their interests and skills as well.
This year, the overall winner of our fist competition was Susan Bamford and congratulations go to her fantastic image of a Harvest Mouse. Overall, the images together show our members awareness of light and how it affects an image, each capturing it in their own way to great effect.
We would also like to extend our thanks to Keith for his time and thoughtful comments on every one of the images that were presented to him and for travelling up to deliver the results in person. It was a fantastic evening.
If you would like to know more about photography or if any of these images have inspired you pick up a camera then we have a packed schedule of weekly events including talks, walks, practical nights, community exhibitions, competitions and so much more going on this year.
