Back in March, Covid brought a sudden end to the Irvine Camera Club Season. Although the club had managed to complete all of the competitions for the year, we had not at that point had the opportunity to celebrate our members’ successes nor to hand out any trophies. So, it was with great relief that we were able to come together on the 2nd September at our new venue, Dreghorn Bowling Club, to finally review the previous year and to hand out the prizes.
We took this opportunity to combine our delayed prize giving evening with our traditional annual open evening. At the beginning of every new season we invite interested prospective members to come along to see what the club is like, to enjoy some jovial hospitality and tuck into our always splendid buffet, laid on by our Chair, Kevin Thorne and this year supported by the delicious baking of our new Vice Chair, Tracy Ross.
We welcomed several interested potential new members, with the bowling club allowing us to accommodate everyone comfortably whilst also maintaining social distancing.
Kevin kicked off the evening by welcoming everyone and letting us all know the plan for the evening as well as the activities lined up for the next few weeks. He then introduced me to give a review of the previous year, talk a little about our journey through lockdown and last, but not least to present the trophies for last year’s competition winners.

Following the presentation of trophies and certificates, we quickly proceeded to dig into the fabulous buffet, teas, coffees and perhaps a wee drink from the bar for those who weren’t driving home. The buzz around the room was palpable and I think it’s fair to say we are all looking forward to the new season with anticipation and excitement.
If you would like to join us, whatever your photographic ability, please find all our details on our website www.irvinecc.co.uk or on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. We will be meeting every Wednesday evening at 7:30 at Dreghorn Bowling Club throughout the autumn and winter. You are assured of a very warm welcome.
