Also known as a common heart urchin, I found thousands of these washed up on the beach one morning, all deceased and being ravaged by the gulls. I had never seen one before but they are amazing. The side you can see in the image is the underneath and the stringy buts are whats left of its tentacles that it uses to move around. It looks to me like a man which is why I called it 'Man On The Edge' but obviously from the comments thats just how I see it. Its on a piece of slate, suspended. I just really liked the composition. Thank you for your comment.

What is that? To me it looks like a sand dollar resting on a worn piece of slate? Great idea and execution - well done
