As Dalry will be catering for us, can you please let me know if you are planning to visit them to participate in the Knockout?

I can highly recommend it as Knockouts are a bit of fun and a good opportunity to socialise with fellow photographers.

Thanks

I will be there, should be a good night

Sorry Tracy, I won't make it.

Hi I have been looking at sizes of prints on Loxley and bearing in mind the max size allowed of 50x40 inc mount would it be best to look at an image size of 36x24 or 30x20. Clive do you know roughly the size of the image you had on Monday night as I think that size looked good and did you say the frame was roughly 7cm (3 inch) at each side?

I uploaded my Maritime Museum images to Facebook. Can I ask if I was supposed to upload them to the website as well? as I see lots published but none of mine.

Thanks x

Hi Fiona - The print I showed at the club on Monday was something like 16" x 12"  which would mean a 2" border all round on 20" x 16" mount.

For each photowalk or visit that we do Tracy will open an upload competition on the website - that is where you need to have loaded your 3 favourite Musuem photos for them to be used for the newspaper.  You can also share more photos to the  Facebook group as well but it is difficult to find and grab all the images from there so we prefer to get them from the website.  Sorry for any confusion!

Thanks clive, I did wonder about my Maritime images........no worries I will know the next time x

Hi Fiona, sorry to hear you missed out with you museum images. All the info you'd need would have been here on the website https://irvinecc.co.uk/programme/sc01-scottish-maritime-museum-evening-visit-linthouse-night-workshop. As Clive says the website is the prime place to put our images. It also provides a good record of what we do in a tidy manner. Let me know if you have any feedback.
Re prints, for starters, I find for a 4x3 format that 16"x12" works nicely, and for 3x2 a 15"x10" - these work well in a 20"x16" Mount.

Alan hi, I do read the info on the website but just missed the bit about uploading to the website I thought it was just FB. Thank you for taking the time to get back to me though.

When you are talking about format do you mean  what format you shoot in camera? I shoot in 3:2 so a 15x10 print size u are saying would be better.

Can I also check the following when exporting from LR to print I have a res of 300 ppi entered but have unticked re size to fit and don't enlarge. I also have no size entered (long edge etc) is that right?

Thanks x

Absolutely right Fiona, when exporting to print, untick resize to fit - nothing in that section applies.

You will however need to export a 1600 pixel wide (or 1200 pixel high) image for uploading to the website.

Format - can be your sensor shape but really I'm thinking about the format that best suits print comps. It seems 16"x12" makes max use of the space on a 20"x16" board without Looking silly - so max impact providing there'a enough detail. Just a guide, no rules, small can work well too.

Thank you I appreciate your help and info x
